Samsung confirms 8-inch Galaxy Note to be released at MWC

A Samsung executive JK Shin confirmed that the company will unveil a smaller version of its Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet which will have 8 inch of display. The new tablet will be Samsung's direct competitor to the iPad mini. According to Korea's iNews24, it will be officially unveiled next month in Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Previous leaks have indicated that the tablet will come in 3G and Wi-Fi models with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, a 1280 x 800 display, 5-megapixel back camera, and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Its form factor is similar to previous Galaxy Tab designs.

Reports on the CPU peg the tablet with either a quad-core Exynos 4 processor or an Exynos 5 Octa, the latest and greatest from Samsung that was revealed just a few weeks back during CES 2013. All in all it sounds like a decent tablet, but keep in mind that none of those internals have been confirmed by the company yet.

Stay tuned for more.
